Boy Scouts Troop 63

Boy Scouts Of America logoSt. James’ has sponsored Troop 63 since its inception in 1952. Under the leadership of Scoutmaster Jeffrey Albanese, twenty-six Assistant Scoutmasters (including Jack and Jim Cassel, Steve Search, John Lent and Martin Bend & Fr. Carl), ten committee members and numerous merit badge counselors and sixteen boy scout leaders, Troop 63 continues to do well.

Presently there are thirty four scouts, eight of which are members of our parish: John Jonas, Josh Cassel, Matt DellaVecchia, Eion Bend, Jonathan Search, John Lunden, Barry Bend and  Zachary Devine. We now have 7 new Eagle Scouts, Kevin Alders, Erik Milosevic, Frank Winski, Jared Lisack, Luke Nelson, Louis Rittendale and Joshua Cassel. Josh of course is a parishoner of St James.

Scouting seeks to develop the character, citizenship and personal fitness of our youth.  Active participation in religion is encouraged as well as community service.  Scouts earn rank (Tender-Foot through Eagle) by learning skills, demonstrating leadership and scout spirit.  Many activities and accomplishments are scheduled for each year.

Troop 63 is very proud that they have produced 95 Eagle Scouts and expect to have 103 by April 2011.  Adult Leaders meet the first Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. and the Scouts meet every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall.
